Homemade Coffee Extract Recipe
This homemade coffee extract is super easy to make and perfect if you love baking or mixing up coffee-flavored cocktails. It’s just two ingredients, keeps for up to a year, and adds that deep, rich coffee flavor to pretty much anything.

Equipment
- 1 clean glass jar with a lid (any mason jar or reused jam jar works great)
- 1 mortar and pestle or spoon (to crack the beans)
- 1 fine mesh strainer or a bit of cheesecloth for straining out the beans later
Ingredients
- 1 /2 cup of vodka (rum works great too if you want a sweeter note)
- 1/2 to 1/4 cup of whole coffee beans
Instructions
- Gently crack or crush the coffee beans—if you’ve got a mortar and pestle, that works great.
- Add the beans to a clean glass jar.
- Pour in the vodka, close the jar, and give it a good shake.
- Seal the jar tightly and give it a good shake.
- Store it somewhere cool and dark, and give it a quick shake every day.
- After 2 to 4 weeks, strain out the beans using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
- Transfer the extract to a clean jar or bottle.
- Use as needed in recipes and enjoy the deep coffee flavor!

- Store the extract for up to 1 year in a sealed jar kept in a cool, dry place.
