What Coffee Fuze stores on your device, who else receives data when you read the site, and how to change your mind at any time.

Who runs this site
Coffee Fuze publishes coffee guides, recipes and brewing tools at coffeefuze.com. For any question about this policy or about your data, email contact@coffeefuze.com. We answer privacy questions from that address.
The short version
- You can read the whole site without accepting any cookies.
- Nothing is stored on your device for analytics or advertising until you allow it in the cookie banner.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not run a mailing list or a contact form.
- You can change or withdraw your choice whenever you like, with the button at the end of this page.
Cookies and similar storage
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. Some sites also use your browser's own storage in the same way. Coffee Fuze groups both into three categories, which match the categories in the cookie banner.

Some storage is required for the site to work. It is always on and cannot be switched off.

Analytics

Marketing
Marketing cookies are used to track visitors across websites so that publishers can show relevant and engaging ads. Enabling them allows personalised advertising.

Our own two entries are the only ones we control. cf-consent records the choice you made in the banner and expires after 180 days, after which we ask again. cf-theme remembers whether you picked the light or the dark appearance. Neither leaves your browser, and neither identifies you. The rest are set by Google, and Google decides how long they last; Google describes them in its advertising cookies and advertising services notices.
How your consent is applied
Google's tags load on every page, but they start with every optional storage type denied, using Google Consent Mode in its advanced setting. Until you allow a category:
- no analytics or advertising cookie is written;
- Google receives a request without cookies, which includes your IP address, your browser and the page address, and uses it only to estimate overall traffic;
- ads are not personalised.
When you allow a category, the matching storage is switched on straight away. When you withdraw it, we delete the cookies that category had set and tell Google that consent is denied again.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which guides people read, so we know what to write and what to fix. It records the pages you view, roughly where you are (from your IP address, which Google discards for this purpose rather than storing), your device and browser, and how you arrived. Google keeps this event data for the retention period set on our property; Google's standard options are 2 or 14 months.
We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without storing anything on your device. Because it stores nothing on your device and does not track you across sites, it runs without consent.
Advertising
Coffee Fuze carries ads through Google AdSense, which is how the site is paid for. Google and its partners may use cookies to measure and, if you allow Marketing, to personalise the ads you see. Without that consent the ads are not personalised: they are chosen from the page you are reading rather than from a profile.

Why we are allowed to do this
For readers in the UK and the European Economic Area, analytics and advertising storage runs on yourconsent, which you give in the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time. Serving the site, keeping it secure and answering the email you send us run on our legitimate interest in keeping Coffee Fuze available and replying to you.
Google, and Cloudflare, which serves this site, are based in the United States and may process data there or in other countries, under the safeguards described in their own privacy documentation.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask for a copy or for it to be corrected or deleted, object to a use, or ask us to restrict it. Email contact@coffeefuze.com and we will respond within a month. In practice we hold very little: we cannot identify you from analytics or advertising data, so for that data your route is Google, through the links above. If you are in the UK or the EEA and you are not satisfied, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
Coffee Fuze is written for adults who brew coffee. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data about them.
Changes to this policy
When what we do changes, we change this page and update the date at the top. If a change affects what we store on your device, the cookie banner asks for your consent again.
